April Dawn Brooks

April Dawn Brooks, 52 passed away at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital on June 14, 2026. She was born May 10, 1974, in Chanute, Kansas to Steve West and Jean Fowler.

She graduated from West High School in Wichita, Kansas in the class of 1992. April worked as a CNA and earlier as a dairy farm worker. She married Jason Brooks on August 18, 1995, in Peabody, Kansas.

They were married for 30 years.

She is survived by her husband, Jason Brooks; children Stacy Gawlight of Salina, Natalie Brooks of Newton, and Nathan Brooks of Wichita; brother, Forrest Theimen of Humboldt; and 2 grandchildren Forrest and Hunter.
