Arlene (Dietz) Wiebe

Arlene Doris Dietz was born on August 7, 1929 to Emma and Samuel Dietz of Quakertown, Pennsylvania. She was the youngest of 12 children. Her earliest years were filled with joy and laughter in the Dietz household. In particular, she was helpful with her nieces and nephews. She loved to play ping pong and table games. Her nieces, Elaine and Carol, were particularly close to Arlene.

Arlene graduated from Quakertown high school in 1947 and went on to attend Grace Bible Institute (later Grace University) and graduated in 1952.

Following her graduation, she took on the challenge of being an administrative assistant at Grace University from 1953 to 1976. For a number of years, she was the administrative assistant to the president of the college. From 1976 to 1984, Arlene was an administrative assistant at Cairn University, which is now Philadelphia College of the Bible. From 1984 to 2000  she worked with Child Evangelism as a counseling associate.

During her adult years, Arlene enjoyed traveling. She took trips to visit her scattered siblings and beloved nieces and nephews. She lived with her older sisters Sadie and Dorothy in a house built across the road from the place where her childhood home once stood.

She retired in 2000 when she married Willie (Bill) C. Wiebe from Kansas on November 25, 2000. She moved to Kansas and enjoyed making a home with Bill who was a part-time pastor at Emmaus Church and a widower. She enjoyed  helping Bill with his job as visitation pastor. Bill often said that when he ran out of things to say, that she would keep the conversation going. Bill and Arlene also enjoyed playing games during the evening hours. Bill passed away in 2015, and Arlene continued on in their home.

In Arlene’s later years, she enjoyed going to church functions with Gladys Wiebe, watching Wheel of Fortune, and working around her house and yard. She was involved with a Bible Study at Emmaus and thoroughly enjoyed their get-togethers.

Arlene passed away on May 12, 2023, at Presbyterian Manor in Newton, Kansas. Arlene leaves behind step-daughter, Nancy (wife of Patrick Holliday, deceased) and Nicole Holliday, Rebecca Holliday, and Abigail Holliday, and step-daughter-in-law Arleta Wiebe (wife of Kevin, deceased), and  Andrea Wiebe, Warren Wiebe, and Steph Tester.
