Art Henry Schlesener

October 31, 1940 — August 29, 2022

Art’s life began on October 31, 1940, in Herington. He was the son of Sal and Adelia (Albrecht) Schlesener. Art was a 1958 graduate of Herington High School. He served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965. Art worked as a civilian contractor at Fort Riley for 33 years. He also painted houses in the area for many years. He was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Art is survived by his son Tad and his wife Tricia Schlesener of El Dorado, his niece, Jarolyn (David) Geist; great nieces, Amy Chapman and Amber Howells; great-great nieces and nephews; Riana, Gavin, Bowan, Elena, and Jaren.  Art passed away on August 29, 2022, at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Larry Schlesener; sister Lola (Schlesener) Atkinson. His family will gather with friends on Tuesday September 6, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery for his graveside service with military honors led by Pastor Bill Newman. Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington is serving the family. Memorial contributions in Art’s name may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
