Bill Fitzpatrick

Bill was born in Mercer County, Missouri to Holla and Ruby (Wells) Fitzpatrick. He attended schools in Trenton, Missouri and graduated with the class of 1959. After high school he went to work for the Rock Island Railroad signal department. That job eventaully took him to Marion, Kansas in 1977, where he met the love of his life, JoAnn. They were married on June 30, 1979. With that marriage came her four children, which he later adopted.

After the Rock Island Railroad went under, he went to work for the Santa Fe, which later became the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. The job eventually required them to move from Marion to Dodge City in 1985. He retired from the railroad in 2002, after thirty plus years of service.

He served in the US Army and is a Vietnam Veteran.

He enjoyed the outdoors, bird watching, and camping, and especially enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. So many memories were made over their almost 47 years of marriage.

Surviving is his wife; JoAnn of McPherson; sons; Joe (Margie) Fitzpatrick of Galva, and Jeff Fitzpatrick of Wichita; daughters; Jamie Fitzpatrick of Salina, and Jill (Jay) Reissig of McPherson. Grandchildren; Tyler Fitzpatrick, Jennifer Fitzpatrick (Tanner Haag), Chanda (Dakota) Jument, and Collin (Heather) Reissig. Great grandchildren; Danica Fitzpatrick, Riley and Charleigh Jument, Dallas and Kendall Reissig. Sister; Shirley Hudson and brother; Dale Fitzpatrick and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bill died after a short battle with lung cancer. His wishes were to be cremated, and no service. A celebration of life may be later.
