Christopher G. Costello, 67, Banker and Lawyer of Marion, KS passed away July 13th, 2023, at his home in Marion surrounded by loved ones.

He was born November 15th, 1955, at St. Luke Hospital in Marion to Edward J. Costello and Mary K. Costello.

He graduated from Marion High School in 1973. He received his Bachelor’s from Wichita State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1977. He moved back home to join his father Ed in the family bank. In 1979 he moved to Topeka, KS to pursue a doctorate in law at Washburn University. He graduated from law school in 1982 and moved to Tampa, KS and continued his banking career and joined his father’s law practice.

Chris served as President and CEO of the Tampa State Bank for the past 15 years. He also recently served as Marion City Councilman and on numerous local boards and committees.

In Chris’s past time he enjoyed golfing, camping, snow skiing, boating, flying drones, playing bridge and wind surfing. He also enjoyed water skiing and taught hundreds the sport. He was passionate about his WSU Shockers and rarely missed a game.

Chris was a loving father to three children who he enjoyed pranking, especially on his favorite holiday, April Fools Day. They also enjoyed bike riding and rollerblading as a family, even in the freezing cold on Christmas.

On July 1st, 2015 he was united in marriage to Paige Brunner. Their marriage was filled with lots of love, laughter and of course great food.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents Edward J. Costello and Mary K. Costello and his brother Kevin Costello.

He is survived by his wife Paige Brunner of Marion; his three children, Emily Costello-Kannady (Dax) of Marion, KS, Kevin Costello and Tim Costello both of Missoula, MT, and stepdaughter Preston Schneider of Wichita, KS ; brother Pat Costello (Donna Kay) of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Cathleen McNamara, Teresa Perky (Dave), and Barbara Loehr (John), all of Overland Park, KS and Michele Lundy (Bill), of Marion; and many loving nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a Memorial donation can be made to the Christopher G Costello Memorial at the Tampa State Bank c/o Mickey Lundy.

Private burial will be held on Friday July 21st, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held for friends and family Friday evening at 6pm at the Marion Country Club.  Please sign his online guestbook and leave a memory of Chris at www.yazelmeglifh.com.
