Clyde’s life began on November 27, 1925, on the family farm south of Latimer.  He is the son of Theodore “T.W.” and Mae (McCann) Kasten. Clyde spent all his life in the Latimer area except three years when the family moved to Wakefield, KS.  In 1942, they made a move back to the farm east of Latimer and started farming with his father. Clyde was united in marriage to Ardella Hanson on August 28, 1944, in White City.  He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church serving as church chairman and Elder for many years. Clyde was the Highland Township Assessor and a Highland Township trustee for several years.  He loved to play cards and dominos and especially loved driving his John Deere Gator. Clyde is survived by his sons; Gary (Connie), of Manhattan, Wayne, of White City, Randy (Catherine), of Herington, and Richard (Darlene), of White City, his sister in law Barbara Tiede, his 10 grandchildren; Shanda (Jared) Wilson, Shawn (Lorri) Kasten, Shane (Melissa) Kasten, Shelly Woods, Kerry (Lacie) Kasten, Joshua Kasten, Betsy Kasten, Kyler (Tanna) Kasten, Kilynn (Zeb) Elliott, Kasey (Tanner) Anderson, great grandchildren; Lindsey and Luke Wilson, Grayson, Kaitlyn, and Addison Kasten, Jacob Kasten, Cutler and Kinsley Jo Kasten, Kamryn and Kreyton Anderson, Kymber, Kale, Koy and Keeley Kasten, Kannen, Kycen and Kohen Elliott; step grandchildren; Alicia (Michael) McDaniel, Brandon Mottl, Troy Dodd; and step great grandchildren Chasyn, Jaxyn and Zebadyah McDaniel.  Clyde passed away on Wednesday March 1, 2023, at Diversacare in Council Grove.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 78 years Ardella, his daughter Gelane,  and sisters Hazel Kuether and Laura Brewer.  His family will gather with friends on Wednesday March 8, 2023, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Latimer where his funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. led by Pastor King Crawford. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington.  There will be a luncheon following the burial at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington.  Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington is serving the family.  Memorial contributions in Clyde’s name Latimer Lutheran Church Preservation Society in care of the funeral home.  Please sign his online guestbook and leave a memory of Clyde at www.yazelmeglifh.com.
