Delores Yvette Granzow

Delores’ life began on June 18, 1931, in Herington. She was the daughter of Clarence J. “Jake” Schneider and Alice L. (Hedburg) Schneider. Delores attended school in Herington and a member of the Class of 1949. She was united in marriage to Wallace D. “Bill” Granzow on September 20, 1948, at the United Methodist Church in Herington.

Delores went to work when she was eleven years old and worked hard all her life. She was an early telephone operator, worked for Bus Stiles Thriftway Grocery, was the secretary for the Tri-County Methodist Parish and spent 20 years at the Herington Hospital as a medical transcriptionist. Delores was a member of the Cosmopolitan Club, United Methodist Women, Herington Hospital Auxiliary, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and the WELCA group at church. Delores was a great cook making Christmas candy, and other goodies, she loved to go swimming at the pool and visiting the local library. She loved watching old westerns and was a fan of Audie Murphy and Gunsmoke. Delores enjoyed going to her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting events and she loved watching Kansas basketball, whether KU or State. She had many memories of farm life and raising her 300 plus chickens a year and doing their own butchering. She was a good farm wife and tough as they come.

Her greatest joy was her family which includes her children Steve (Melody) Granzow of Lincoln, KS, Dennis (Lynette) Granzow of Mammoth Spring, AR, Tom ( Mary) Granzow of Herington and Rick ( Amy) Granzow of Herington; grandchildren Brandi(Steve Traczyk) Granzow, Bryan (Jessica) Brown, Sara Anderson, Toniann (Patrick) Richard, Tobyn Granzow, Jacob (Rosa) Granzow, Kyle Granzow, Dale (Vikki) Mulderrig, James Mulderrig, and Billy Granzow; eight great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
