Diann Marie Wainwright

Diann Marie Wainwright, 38, of Alta Vista, Kansas, died August 8, 2021 at the Morris County Hospital.

Diann was born on October 23, 1982 the daughter of Dennis Wainwright and Wanda (Wilkerson) Timm. She was born at the Morris County Hospital, although her initial birth announcement listed her as being born at courthouse.
Diann was a 2001 graduate of Council Grove High School. While in high school, she was a member of FCCLA, participating in contests and trips to Iowa. She was a 10 year member of Santa Fe Trail 4-H Club in Morris County. Her projects included clothing, dog, cat, rabbits, poultry, and her favorite was the horse project. Over the years Diann enjoyed showing horses in a variety of 4-H and Eastern Kansas Horseman Association shows. One of her showing highlights was showing at the American Royal.
Diann’s career in the hospitality industry led her to general manager position at Wendy’s in Manhattan. After guiding her employees and store through a major renovation; out of 49 Wendy’s stores, they achieved ranking in the top 5.
Diann was a member of the First Baptist church of Council Grove, and was active in the youth group throughout high school.
In addition to her horses and house pets, Diann thoroughly enjoyed jigsaw puzzles. She also loved the years she lived in St Louis. She loved to travel see new things and meet new people. Although she was not a fan of yardwork, she did enjoy hosting backyard parties for family and friends.
Diann was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Edgar and Mary Lou Wainwright and Ted and Evelyn Wilkerson. She is survived by her father Dennis Wainwright, Alta Vista; mother Wanda Timm (Russell), Council Grove; sister Darci Wainwright, Alta Vista; brother Daniel Wainwright (Lisa), Council Grove; niece Mandy Jo; nephew Augustus; step-son Sean McGovern LaGrange, NC; stepdaughter Patricia McGovern-Cosentino, Grand Junction, Co; step grandchildren: Jackson McGovern and Parker McGovern-Leach; significant other Melvin Sanford; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the shelter house at the First Baptist Church of Council Grove, Friday, August 27th at 6:30pm. A private burial will be held at Sunny Slope Cemetery.
