Gloria Verna Hanschu

HERINGTON - Gloria Verna Hanschu, 90, of Ramona, died Sunday, February 5, 2017, at the Herington Municipal Hospital.  She was born on September 12th, 1926, at Herington, Kansas, the daughter of Henry E. and Mary (Berg) Snyder.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 9th, 2017, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Ramona, with Rev. Clark Davis, officiating. Burial will follow at the Lewis Cemetery.  A family visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at the Zeiner Funeral Home-Herington Chapel.

She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Paul Lutheran Church.  During her high school years, she worked at Michler's Market in the meat department.  She graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1945 and went to Vernon’s School of Cosmetology in Wichita. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed working beside her husband driving the harvest truck, caring for calves and baby goats on the back porch, and fixing meals for family, friends, and neighbors.  Whenever there was a polka dance in the area, Gloria and Paul would be there.  Paula would always be her precious little girl.  She was a regular at her grandsons 4-H activities and programs.

She was married to Paul Dale Hanschu at the Trinity Lutheran Church on March 25, 1951.  He preceded her in death on June 2, 1993.  She is also preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Delphos Snyder; a sister Julie Ann Snyder; and her parents.

She is survived by a daughter, Paula Morgan and husband Max of Ramona;  a brother Norman Snyder and wife Naomi of Herington; two grandsons Ryan McDermott of Texas, Rod McDermott of Ramona; and four great grandchildren, Hanne McDermott of Herington, Kristin Shaw of Indiana, Katy and Jayden of Texas; two great great grandchildren Jacqueline and Nataleigh Berkowitz of Texas.

Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, Ramona; and sent to Zeiner Funeral Home-Herington Chapel, 404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS, 67449-3038.
