Jack’s life began on May 4, 1933, in Yale, Iowa.  He is the son of Jack M. and Mildred M. (Hodson) Taylor, Sr.  Jack attended Hobart Grade School in Oklahoma, Worth Junior High School in Worth, MO., and Grant City High School in Grant City, MO.  He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.  Jack was united in marriage to Glenda L. Koch on April 24, 1954, on the Navy base in Corpus Christi, TX.  He worked as a bridge and road foreman in Marion, County as well as maintenance foreman at Smokey Hill Bombing Range in Salina and Wilson Lake for the US Corps of Engineers. He also drove a school bus in Sylvan Grove from 1994 until 2002.  Jack was baptized into the Christian faith at the Worth, Missouri Baptist Church and journeyed in his faith at Eastmoor United Methodist Church in Marion and First Presbyterian Church in Sylvan Grove, KS.  He served in various Elder and trustee positions in various congregations.  Jack was Mr. Fixit and loved to tinker with engines, appliances and somehow always managed to have the right part somewhere in his inventory.  He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 69 years, Glenda Taylor of Marion, sons Bruce (Patty) Taylor of Lenexa, and Bryan (Tammy) Taylor of Galva; grandchildren Leslie ( Trapper) Buettgenbach of McPherson, Erin (Krista Williams-Vohs) Williams-Vohs of Denver, Jordan ( Adam) Greenhaw of Aurora, CO, Dani (Matthew) Calamari of New York City, Kaitlyn (Brandon) Johnson of Goessel, Clancy (Dana) Taylor of Canton, Crecia (Travis) Martin of Galva, Rebecca Taylor of Galva and Chase (Kalonie) Taylor of Washington, DC; great grandchildren Conner, Connor, Brayden, Ashlon, Tailynn, and Tate and his sister Esther McClellan of Grant City , MO.  Jack passed away on Thursday June 1, 2023, at St. Luke Living Center in Marion.  He is preceded in death by his parents, two infant daughters Sheryl and Gwendolyn and two sisters Norma Jean Pittsenbarger and Freda Marie McComas.  Jack’s family will gather with friends on Monday June 5, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Marion.  His funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 6, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Eastmoor United Methodist Church. Jack will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence.  Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence.  Please sign his online guestbook and leave a memory of Jack at www.yazelmeglifh.com.
