On November 24, 2025, just before midnight, the greatest woman we’ll ever know, walked through those pearly gates in heaven, to spend eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Janice Priest arrived in this world on August 31, 1943. She was the third and final gift given to Clifford and Marian (Henson) Priest. She was born and raised in Herington Kansas and attended Herington High School, graduating in 1961. Higher education wasn’t a big priority for her, but becoming a wife sure was! Janice went from the teacher to the preacher in a matter of a few weeks!
When Janice met Larry in 1958, she knew that he was her forever. So, the two became one, on June 11, 1961. This union was just the beginning of their beautiful, blessed and extraordinary life together. They always said that it takes 3 for a happy and blessed marriage. Christ as the center of the marriage first and foremost, and then your spouse. Our parents led us, and others, by great example. They were fiercely loyal and totally committed to each other.
Janice was a homemaker, and she certainly excelled at it. Family dinner at the table was a ritual and not an option. Family values were priority. However, she wasn’t ‘just’ a homemaker. She had a diverse skill set. Mom was a counselor, a teacher, a warrior, the breathalyzer, a nurse, a reflection of love and compassion, our unsung hero, and she was definitely the glue that held everything together. When she did take a minute for herself throughout the years, she enjoyed her bowling league, playing cards, and long days of shopping. But…she LOVED an occasional trip to the casino!
Janice didn’t know a stranger and she was such a giving human. If you were hungry, she fed you. If you were weak, she gave you strength. If you were in need of anything, she did what she could to fulfill you. Oh, and LOVE… She had more of that then anything and she gave it freely! Our parents took anyone in who needed a place to stay. It didn’t matter the avenue, be it as foster parents, our family members, someone else’s family, or friends of anyone. The door was always open!
Our mom did things quietly. She never did anything for recognition. She had a heart of gold and shared it with all, and she did it selflessly. There is a huge hole in our hearts and our lives will never be the same.
Janice is survived by her children, Scotty (Joy) Miller, Darcy Miller, and Delynne (Craig) Nuss; Grandchildren, Perri (Andrew) Tresemer, Daniel, Ian and Regan Miller. Trenton (fiancé Ambria) Gardner, and Rylie (Mason) Tabares. Great grandchildren; Peter and Aaron Tresemer. Many nieces and nephews, dear friends and her sweet little dog Zoe Lou.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; parents, Clifford and Marian Priest; father and mother-in-law, Glenn and Mary Miller; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Elroy Zoglman; sister, Judy Dix; brother -in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Anna Mae Miller.
