With heartfelt respect, we share the news of the passing of Lisa Kay (Schlesener) Lightfoot, who departed this life on August 4, 2026, in Salina, Kansas, at the age of 68. Milton and Catheryn Schlesener welcomed Lisa into the world on July 30, 1958, in Osage City, Kansas, and her life’s journey was marked by kindness, warmth, and meaningful connections with those who knew her. Lisa graduated from Herington High School with the Class of 1976 and went on to attend some college at Emporia State University, nurturing a curiosity and enthusiasm for learning that would remain with her throughout her life. She built her professional path working primarily in retail and also spent time in Manhattan, Kansas, where she was known for making mailboxes—always diligent, dependable, and bringing a cheerful presence to her workplaces .Her vibrant personality left a memorable impression wherever she went. At Smokey Hill, where she resided in her later years, Lisa was affectionately regarded as a social butterfly—beloved by residents and staff alike for her engaging spirit and the brightness she brought into every room. Many spoke of her as a shining star within the community. She also was the President of the residence council at Smokey Hill. Lisa found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing bingo, immersing herself in books, and laughing along to comedian TV shows, embracing both community and quiet moments with equal enthusiasm. Family meant everything to Lisa, and she is remembered with love by her sister, Rachel (Carmie) Hawkins, of Seymour, Iowa, her brother, Greg (Cindy) Schlesener of Herington, Kansas,. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles whose lives she touched with affection and encouragement. Lisa was preceded in death by her dear father and mother, her beloved husband Tony, and her brother Jason Schlesener. Each loss was met with resilience and grace—qualities that defined her approach to life. The legacy of Lisa Kay Lightfoot is one of compassion, loyalty, and joy. Her memory will be cherished not only by her family but by countless friends, neighbors, and all who were fortunate to know her.A Memorial Service celebrating Lisa’s life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Full Gospel Church, located at 812 N. Walnut Street, Abilene, Kansas .As we remember Lisa, we reflect on a life well lived, full of laughter, love, and light. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.
