Luella Jennie Smith

May 15, 1926 — September 26, 2021

Luella’s life began on May 15, 1926, the daughter of James E. and Maude A. (Brenner) Long in rural Butler County, Kansas. She attended Potwin Schools and married Frank Grant Smith on May 15, 1942, at the Butler County Courthouse in El Dorado. She was homemaker and worked with her husband doing carpentry. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Potwin Christian Church and loved working with her hands sewing, macrame, crafts, leather working, gardening, reupholstery, canning, pottery and crocheting.

Her loving family includes her daughter, Marsha (Mike) Baird of Potwin; five grandchildren, Corey (Beth) Smith, Scott (Becky) Baird, Casey (Traci) Smith, Kim (Matt) Zamora, Michelle (Eric) Mincks; many great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Ott Smith Zaffarano of Wichita.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank in 2007; two sons, Rodney (Betty) Smith and Olin Smith; siblings, Elbert, Elvin, and Roland Long and Bonnie Fowler. Luella passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the age of 95 years old.

A private family graveside service will be held at Sunset Lawns Cemetery in El Dorado, Kansas.
