Hope – Margaret Ann Dillon, formerly of Hope, departed this life Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Abilene Memorial Hospital. She was born on August 28, 1932, in Herington, the daughter of William C. and Thelma J. (Glenn) Biehler.
Margaret was a 1950 graduate of Herington High School. Following graduation, she worked for Thompson Wholesale. On February 14, 1957, she was united in marriage to Ralph “Sam” E. Dillon, at St. John Catholic Church-Herington. Margaret and Sam met at the Starlight Ballroom in Pilsen and continued to enjoy polka dancing throughout their marriage. She was a parishioner at St. Philip Catholic Church in Hope and belonged to the Altar Society. Her faith and family was first and foremost in all Margaret did. She created wonderful meals and was especially known for her pies and cakes. She also shared a love of K-State sports with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Sam, son Michael, son-in-law Lynn Jones, granddaughter Sara Goddard, and siblings Marilyn Anderson, Duane Biehler, Gerald Biehler, and Joyce Trent.
Her loving family includes her children, Joan Jones of Abilene, Patricia (Doug) McClane of O’Fallon, IL, Greg Dillon of Hope, Doug (Esther) Dillon of Hope, Dennis Dillon of Hope, Karen (Johnnie) Goddard of Ellsworth and James Dillon of Hope; grandchildren Jennifer (Nick) Schroeder, Amanda (Chad) Hairston, Elizabeth Dillon, Andrew (Jackie) Dillon, Abigail (Jaren) Nittler, Kathryn (Josh) Deschenes, John (Shannon Wilson) Goddard, Anna (Jason Miller) McClane and Christina McClane; and great-grandchildren Max, Cole, Mia, Calin, Hamilton, Ike, Zoe, Murphy, Mabel, Eloise and Vivian.
A rosary will be recited, 6:00pm Sunday evening, Oct. 1, 2023, at St. Philip Catholic Church-Hope. Following the rosary, family will receive friends from 6:30- 8:30pm. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00am, Monday October 2, 2023, at St. Philip Catholic Church. She will be laid to rest at the Ashton Cemetery of Hope.
