Mark Justin Klaassen went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, February 21, 2026. He was born December 28, 1988 in Newton to Dallas and Gerri (Guhr) Klaassen.
He attended Berean Academy his grade school and high school years. After high school graduation he went to Hutch Juco and received a degree in diesel mechanics. He also attended K-State university for one year.
On May 21, 2011 he married the love of his life, Kristie Harder. They were blessed with four children, Dayton (9), Carley (7), Emmy (5), and Breann (3). Mark cared deeply for his family. He was a member and involved with his church, Emmaus Church, serving as chairman of the Trustee board and head of the security team. He was also on the Newton Township board and Soil Conservation District. His heart was in farming.
He leaves behind his parents, Dallas and Gerri of rural Newton, brothers Brad (Becky) Klaassen of rural Canton, Derik (Chantelle) Klaassen of rural Moundridge, Cory (Julia) Klaassen of rural Newton, parents-in-law Tim and Brenda Harder of rural El Dorado , brother-in-law Jeff (Heidi) Harder of rural Burns, brother-in-law Josh (Ruth) Harder of rural El Dorado, sister-in-law Denise (Kendal) Wiebe of rural Whitewater, and sister-in-law Amy (Tim) Maiden of rural El Dorado.
Family will gather Wednesday, February 25, from 6:00-8:00pm at Emmaus Church in Whitewater, Kansas. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 11:00 am. Burial will be at the New Emmaus Cemetery in Whitewater on February 26, 2026 at 10:00 am. Memorials can be made out in Mark's name to Berean Academy.
