Martha Ann Sly

Martha’s life began on March 21, 1939, in Herington.  She is the daughter of John and Caroline (Kelzer) Weber.  She was united in marriage to Jerry N. Sly on September 19, 1960, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Herington.  Martha was a homemaker and a faithful parishioner at St. John’s Catholic Church.  She had been involved in the church choir, altar society and taught catechism classes. Martha enjoyed being around children and loved her family very much.   She is survived by her children Stephen (Darcy) Sly of Springhill, KS, Vincent Sly of Herington, Belinda (Mark) Chalker of Meade, KS, Teresa (Rhett) Hastings of Glendale, AZ and son in law David Montgomery of Omaha, NE; grandchildren Daniel Sly, Caroline Sly,  Levi Hastings, Caley Hastings, Justin Chalker, Amanda Graves, Cassandra Mains, Jeff Holmes, Nathan Holmes, Erica Holmes, Briel Sly, Bella Sly, David Montgomery, Mary Montgomery, Teresa Montgomery, Annie Montgomery, Michelle Montgomery, Joan Montgomery, and John Montgomery; great grandchildren Hedron, Kiara, Lyam ,Emlyn, Pippa Chalker-Esdaile, and Mathew Leal.  Martha passed away on Thursday December 22, 2022, at Herington Hospital.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry, daughter Barbara Montgomery, son Jerry Gerard Sly, son Timothy Sly and several brothers and sisters.  Her family will gather with friends on Thursday January 5^th from 5-7 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington where Rosary prayers will be offered at 6 p.m.  Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday January 6^th at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, Herington.  Martha will be laid to rest in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Herington.  Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Help for Helpless Catholic Charity in care of the funeral home.  Please sign her online guestbook and leave a memory of Martha at www.yazelmeglifh.com.
