Mary Lou (Sandwell) Roblin

Mary’s life began on August 22, 1938, in Marion, Kansas.  She is the daughter of Steve and Ida (Olsen) Sandwell and lived on the family farm west of Marion.  Mary attended Canada Grade School and graduated from Marion High School.  She was employed by Case and Son Insurance during her senior year. Mary worked for the Hartford Insurance Company in Washington, DC and Farrington Electronics in Springfield, VA. Upon returning home, she was employed by Farmer’s and Drover’s Bank and retired as the supervisor for registration at the Newton Medical Center.

Mary was united in marriage to Bob Roblin on November 6, 1999, in Benton.  She and Bob enjoyed their life in the country.  Mary enjoyed her grandsons, nieces and nephews and attending their school programs and games.  She loved to garden, and she and Bob created impressive landscapes around their home.  Mary was an avid reader and enjoyed hand sewing, reading, and baking.  She had an eye for nice clothes and always looked good.  Mary could often be found keeping her home neat as a pin and was a gifted organizer. She and Bob also enjoyed going antiquing, to flee markets and gathering unique antiques for their home.  Mary always put the needs of others before herself.

She is survived by her husband Bob Roblin of Benton, stepson Jason Roblin of Argonia, four grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, sisters Lucy Janzen, Evelyn Sandwell, and Cora Rogers, and brother Kenneth (Margie) Sandwell and many nieces and nephews.

Mary passed away on Friday June 9, 2023, at Wesley Woodlawn Hospital.  She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Dorothy Bradford, and Norma Jean Tussey, and brother James Sandwell.  A private funeral service will be held at the Benton Church, and she will be laid to rest in Marion Cemetery.  Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater is serving the family.  Memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be directed to the Marion Library or Caring Hands Humane Society.  Please sign her online guestbook and leave a memory of Mary at www.yazelmeglifh.com.
