Maureen Kay Phillips

Maureen was born on March 17, 1956, in Abilene. She is the daughter of Betty L. (McKee) Phillips. Maureen earned her Licensed Practical Nurse license on November 28, 1977. She worked at several area nursing homes including Herington and Enterprise. Maureen genuinely enjoyed caring for the elderly and always had a way of developing a special connection with them. Her patients loved her dearly. She attended the First Christian Church of Herington. She enjoyed playing bingo and the lottery, tending to her rose bushes, spending time with her family and friends, and celebrating her birthday on St. Patrick's Day. She is survived by her daughter Danielle (Jon) Ross of Maple Hill, KS; grandchildren Byron, Brinlee, and Bailee Ross; brothers Ed (Gerry) Phillips of Lecompton and Wes Phillips of Herington; nieces Emily Phillips and Chrissy Reeves and close friend Roger Salsbury of Herington. Maureen passed away at her home on Thursday May 1, 2025. She is preceded in death by her mother. Her family will gather with friends on Friday May 9, 2025 from 5-7pm at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington and her memorial service will be Saturday May 10, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Herington led by Pastor Ben Bontrager. Maureen will be laid to rest in Sunset Hill Cemetery following the service. Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington is serving the family.
