Melanie Jo Nuss, 64, of Herington passed away Peacefully on February 16, 2022, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, KS. She was born February 18, 1957, in Herington to Charles Herbel and Pauline McCollum.
Melanie lived her whole life in Herington, graduating from Herington High School with the class of 1975. On July 6, 1974, she married the love of her life Craig Nuss in Herington. To this union they were blessed with 3 children. Melanie was a railroader’s wife, taking care of the home and children. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandkids.
Melanie is survived by her husband of 47 years Craig, son’s; Nathan Nuss, of Herington, Taylor Nuss, of Shawnee, daughter; Tarah Jo Haffner, of Herington, sisters; Susan Wolf, of Whitehouse, TX, Patricia Cox, Abilene, Linda Stone, Ottawa, and Terry Bricker, of Escondido, CA, brothers; Mike Herbel, Herington, and David Herbel, Marion. She is preceded in death by her parents, infant son Joseph, brother; Jimmy Herbel, and father-in-law Robert Nuss. Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Herington Chapel is serving the family.
Family will receive guests from 6pm to 8pm on February 22, at the Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, 404 S. Broadway St. Herington, KS. Funeral service will be at 11 am on February 23, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in Herington, KS, with graveside services to follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Reverend Bill Neuman will be officiating.
