Mike’s life began December 20, 1951, in Tacoma, WA. He was the son of Cecil Brown and Marjorie (Dildine) Brown. He was united in marriage to Christine Krilich on July 14, 1979, in Tacoma. Mike joined the United States Army around the age of 30 and served his country for eight years. His Army job brought him to Fort Riley and when he was honorably discharged, they made their home in the area. Most people will remember Mike for one of two things; he was an excellent musician and guitar player, or as a knowledgeable area plumber. He worked for Herington area plumbers and for himself for many years. Mike was a self-taught guitar player and was on the worship team at Rock Island Church. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing and being outdoors. Mike had also been a member of the Herington American Legion. He is survived by his wife Christine Barnett of Hope; children Melissa Widler of Herington, Michelle (David) Vilcot of Abilene, Michael A. (Anita) Jordon of North Carolina, Randi Jo Barnett of Missouri and Geri Lynn (Manuel) Silos of Arizona; grandchildren Kylie, Jordan, Jackson, Justin, McKenna, Keslee, Kaysen, Hunter, Oakley, Sadie, Hannah (Joel), Courtney (Levi), Charlie, Jetta, Liberty, Ashle, T.N., Manuel Jr., Noah and Kalliesta; several great grandchildren, his siblings George (Linda) Barnett and Don (Charlene) Barnett, both of Salina, and Art (Vietta) Brown; nephews Chuck (Amanda) Barnett and Gary (Crystal) Barnett, and niece Misty (Frankie) Gomez. Mike passed away at his home on Thursday October 23, 2025. He’s preceded in death by his parents, siblings Marilyn, Arlene, Bob, Kelley, and Art, and his niece, Mary Barnett. Mike’s family will gather with friends on Thursday October 30, 2025, from 6-7 p.m. at Rock Island Church, Herington where his memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. led by Pastor Deb Wiles.
