Milton owned and operated a commercial art company in Herington and was briefly employed by Beech Aircraft where he worked in the production art department.  He was also an employee of Centre School District #396 as a custodian and bus driver for over 30 years until he retired.  Milton was a life member of the American Legion Post 12 in Herington, holding membership for 44 years.  He served on the board of Herington Municipal Hospital and was an active member of the Main Street Community organization.  Milton painted the downtown murals still seen in Herington today.  He was able to take an Honor Flight to Washington with fellow veterans and was deservedly proud of his military service.  Milton is survived by his daughter Susan (David) Dvorak of Basehor, daughter in law Deborah Fleming of Manhattan; grandchildren Adrian Fleming of Manhattan, Amanda Voth of Lawrence, and David (Eileen) Dvorak of Overland Park; great grandchildren Maxwell and Margo Dvorak; sister-in-law Miriam Fleming of Overland Park and several nieces and nephews.  Milton passed away on Saturday June 17, 2023, at Legacy of Herington.  He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son James Fleming, brother Leslie Fleming and sister Melba Fleming.  Milton’s family will gather with friends on Wednesday June 21, 2023, at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington.  His funeral service will be held on Thursday June 22, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington.  He will be laid to rest with military honors following the service at Sunset Hill Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in Milton’s name may be directed to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or the Herington Municipal Hospital Foundation.  Please sign his online guestbook and leave a memory of Milton at www.yazelmeglifh.com.
