Nancy Sue Drake

Nancy’s life began on July 1, 1960, in Junction City. She was the daughter of Frank T. and JoAnn (Hansen) Shope. Nancy was a 1978 graduate of White City (Rural Vista) High School. She worked for the IGA now Barnes Grocery in Herington as a cook and baker for many years and loved to bake. Nancy enjoyed sewing and watching old westerns on TV. She was an avid music lover and enjoyed her family. Her loving family includes her mother JoAnn Shope of White City; children Richard Yarbrough of White City, Tanya Egbert of Council Grove, and Brenda (Jeremy) Domme of Topeka; grandchildren Samantha and Harmony; siblings Charles (Vickie) Shope of White City, Karen Clark of Lawton, OK, Calvin (Gina) Shope of Manhattan and several nieces and nephews. Nancy passed away on Sunday June 12, 2022, at Morris County Hospital in Council Grove. She is preceded in death by her father Frank and brother Carl Shope. Her family will gather with friends on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Junction City. Nancy will be laid to rest in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, White City.
