Randall Floyd Brown

Randall’s life began on November 26, 1948, in Sikeston, MO. He was the son of Acil F. and Wanda M. (Coleman) Brown. Randall was a 1968 graduate of Illmo-Scott City High School. He then attended Semo Trade Technical Institute for power mechanics. That year he also began his career at Cotton Belt Railroad, which was later consolidated with Southern Pacific and then merged with Union Pacific. After a year with the railroad, he served his country with honor in the Vietnam War receiving a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his courage and sacrifice. He was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army on April 1, 1975. After the War, he returned to his career at the railroad and retired from there as a conductor. Randall was an avid fisherman and relished taking friends, neighbors, family and even strangers fishing. Using the bounty caught, he would take his “fish fry” trailer to churches, missions and communities cooking delicious fish to bring people together. He enjoyed spending time playing pool with his friends at the Abilene Senior Center. Randall was a devoted follower of Christ and found joy in prayer, strength in scripture and peace in the assurance of salvation by faith in Jesus. Acts 16:31 “They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” He also had great affection for his dogs, Lila and Bobo. Randall is survived by his daughter Crystal (Kurt) Lowes of Cary, IL; grandson Ascher; sister Phyllis (Walter) Meyer of Marion, IA; brother Jim (Cindy) Brown of Jackson, MO., nieces and nephews Walt, Sonya, Tonya, Acil, Kimberly, Brandon, Candace and Gary and his Pomeranian, Bobo. Randall passed away on July 3, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He is preceded in death by his parents and beloved Yorkie, Lila.
