Rebecca "Susie" Payne

Rebecca Sue “Susie” Payne, 69 of Herington, KS passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Born in Fairfax, MO on March 13th, 1956. She was the daughter of George Bruntmyer and Thelma “Ousley” Bruntmyer. She was a 1974 graduate of Mound City High School, and a graduate of Platt University.

She was united in marriage to Jeffery Payne on June 30th, 1990 at Pomona Lake in Kansas.

Susie worked in many different fields over the years.

Susie enjoyed arts and crafts and going to different venues. She liked being outdoors. Susie became deeply committed to the church and dedicated her life to God, volunteering her time to serve the religious community. Susie loved  spending time with her family and cherished the time with her grandchildren. She was loved by everyone that she met.

She was survived by her children George (Helena) Miller and Timothy (Amanda) Miller and her grandchild Marissa (Derrick) Reece, Dakota (Beka) Miller, Stevena Miller, Alexus (Luis) Perez, Chance Miller, Madison Miller and her Great Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by both her mom and dad, her brother Russell Bruntmyer, and little sister Georgia Lee Bruntmyer and by her husband Jeff.

She touched everyone’s lives whether it was fun laughter and sarcasm or just her love. Her love for God was unwavering.

Friends and family are invited to join us for her celebration of life on March 21st, 2026 at 1:00 pm. Celebration of life will be held at the first Baptist Church located at 201 E Hawley St. Herington, KS. Memorial contributions can be directed in Rebecca’s name to the First Baptist Church.
