Roger Frank Peterson, 92, of Burdick, Kansas, passed away Monday, June 2, 2025, at Legacy Nursing Home. He was born on December 11, 1932, on the family farm near Burdick, the son of Iver L. and Stella H. (Hanson) Peterson.
Roger was a lifelong farmer and rancher. He was a dedicated member of Hebron Lutheran Church and the Burdick American Legion. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and graduated with the Class of 1950 from Diamond Valley High School in Burdick. Roger possessed a remarkable memory - able to recall precise dates, weather and events with astonishing clarity, often surprising family with his sharp recollections. His bond with his twin brother Rolland was especially deep. Together, they shared a lifetime of stories, laughter, and devotion to faith, family, and the land they loved.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Rolland; brothers Earl, Wendell, and Marvin; and his sister, Marie (Lester) Thornton.
He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Hebron Lutheran Church in Burdick, Kansas. Pastor Jim Peters will officiate, with military committal honors to follow. Yazel-Megli Funeral Home is serving the family.
Memorial donations may be made in Roger’s name to the Hebron Lutheran Church.
