Shiryl Pauley

Shiryl Jeanette Pauley, a beloved 82-year-old resident of Woodbine, Kansas, peacefully passed away on May 10, 2025, at Chapman Valley Manor. Shiryl's journey began on August 27, 1942, in Junction City, born to Paul and Helen (Diekmann) Timm. She cherished her roots deeply, graduating from Woodbine High School in 1960 and later marrying Byron Pauley on February 16, 1963, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Herington.

Throughout her life, Shiryl exemplified dedication and service, working as a bank teller at Citizen State Bank in Woodbine and contributing to her community as Vice Mayor and council member. She was a pillar at Woodbine United Methodist Church, where her joyous organ playing and choir singing touched many hearts. Shiryl's artistic talents extended to baking extravagant cakes, nurturing her vibrant flower garden, and passionately supporting the Wildcats. One of Robyn and Paul's fondest memories of their mother was the day she came home to find the kitchen sink filled with water—and live ducks—an Easter surprise from Byron for the kids. Her reaction, a mix of shock and laughter, perfectly captured her warm heart and great sense of humor.

Shiryl is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Byron Pauley; her children, Robyn (Kelly) Bordewick and Paul (Katy) Pauley; grandchildren Mikaela, Zachary, Jacob (Karlie), Anna Bordewick, Bethany (Trevv) Colson, Brianna (Tristen) Barton, and Bailey Pauley; great-grandchildren Jett, Wells, Brooks, Beau, and Baby Bordewick; and her brother Rodney (Trudy) Timm. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Neal Jay Timm.

Her memory will be honored at a memorial service on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Woodbine United Methodist Church, followed by interment at Woodbine Cemetery. Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Herington, is assisting the family during this time. Memorial contributions may be made to Woodbine United Methodist Church in Shiryl's name.
