Obituary for Claudette Kay Druse

Mom was a very active person in life. She married dad at the age of 18, gave birth to Tom in Marion, Kansas and soon joined her husband in France and was introduced to a whole new world. There she gave birth to Richard and they returned to the states about a year later. They lived the military lifestyle for many years moving from state to state and many different army bases. They settled in Chandler, Arizona in 1969 and set up a house. Mom loved children and as a result, they took in many foster children. In that time they were blessed with the care of a beautiful newborn Apache Indian girl they adopted and Christy May Druse became their daughter. From there they moved to San Antonia, Texas, where she managed many restaurants, was an excellent cook and never turned anyone away. We always had an extra plate at the table. In 1978, they moved to Enid, Oklahoma and set up a home. She was a secretary/dispatcher for Mayflower Moving; went to beauty school and cut hair for many years until starting into the insurance business. She was successful in every aspect of life and was blessed with six grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. She enjoyed many years of retirement, traveling and playing the slots at many different casinos. She loved the holidays, cooking big meals and having family and friends gather to celebrate life and the Lord. She loved to play the piano and organ, often playing for the Kremlin United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Tom of the home; her children, Tom, Richard, and Christy Druse all of Enid, 6 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Grace Hodges, brothers, Charles, Kenneth, and Dale Hedges; sister Jerry Williams.
