Jacqueline "Jackie" Louise Hett

Jackie’s life began on March 20, 1928, in Enid, OK.  She was the daughter of John and Blanche (Ware) Manuel. Jackie graduated from Peabody High School in 1946. That summer, on July 20, Jackie was united in marriage to Walter Hett at her parents’ home outside of Peabody, KS. Jackie and Walt then settled east of Marion where they ran their family farm and ranch.

Besides being a full-time rancher, she had many other jobs including working at the El Dorado Livestock Auction and was bookkeeper for several businesses.  Jackie enjoyed horseback riding, attending rodeos, and her grandkids’ sporting events.  She loved playing cards in the evenings with several groups of friends, swimming, tending to her flowerbeds, traveling, and baking her famous cinnamon rolls.  She loved her church family where she acted as treasurer for many years.  Most of all, Jackie loved her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Jackie peacefully passed away at the age of 93 on Friday, March 18, 2022, at St. Luke Hospital in Marion, KS surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Blanche, husband Walt, son Steve, and sisters Dorothy and Geraldine. She is survived by her daughters Melanie (Larry) Ensey, Melinda (Kendall) Helmer, and Melissa (Tim) O’Sullivan, grandchildren Kelley (Travis) Schafers, Amy (Mike) Russel, Ed Svitak, Jeremy (Tammy) Ensey, Jeff (Laura) Ensey, Jared (Kathy) Ensey, Joel (Laura) Ensey, Leslie (Seth) Beytien, Lauren (Tim) Hartland, Erica (Ron) DeMeritt, Emily (Noah) Carter, Ryan (Senushi) O’Sullivan, and Madeline (Mark Hayes) O’Sullivan, great-grandchildren Jay Dee, Emily, Trevor, Peyton, Paige, Abree, Zeke, Elizabeth, Julia, Aaron, Elise, Daniel, Ezra, Zane, Isaac, Vivian, Lucy, Adalyn, Avery, Nora, Gemma, Kai, Ari, Indi, Liv, Rowan, Finn, Lael, Sienna, and Rhys, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jackie’s Celebration of Life, led by Lucas Zurcher, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Aulne Church in Aulne, KS. Family will greet friends after the Celebration of Life.  Memorial Contributions in Jackie’s name may be directed to Aulne Church or St. Luke Hospital.
