Gertrude M Weber

September 15, 1922 — March 13, 2020

Gertrude's life began on September 15, 1922 in Burns.  She was the daughter of Henry and Margaret (Uppenkamp) Olberding.  She attended Prairie Dell (Coyote) Country School and Burns High School, graduating in 1940.  Gertrude was united in marriage to Raymond Weber on October 22, 1941 at Immaculate Conception Church in Burns.  The couple moved to a farm eight miles south of Clements until 1946 then to a farm west of Matfield Green, followed by a move to north of Burns, and finally to their home east of Marion.  Gertrude went to work as a carpenter in 1962 in Herington with her brother in law Ray and sons Bernard and Wayne where she worked for 27 years.  She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Florence, a member of the Altar Society and Harvest House.  Gertrude loved her farm animals, selling eggs, textile painting and being a 4-H leader for her children.  Her greatest joy was her family which includes her children Faye Taylor of Manhattan, Wayne (Jane) Weber of Marion, Charles (Beverly) Weber of Paola and Dale (Mashawn) Weber of Florence; grandchildren Sheila Williams, Julie (Troy) Shaw, Carolyn (Mike) Bell, Brent ( Cindy) Schmidt, Christina ( Mike) Strauss, Toby Schmidt, Wendy ( Morgan) Miller, Allison (Danny) Forsyth, Andrew (Chelsea) Weber, Larry Weber, Clint ( Virgilene) Weber and Kevin Weber; 28 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren; sister Louise (Jack) Hall of Wichita, daughter in law Donna (Delmer) Fink.  Gertrude passed away on March 13, 2020 at the Salem Mennonite Home in Hillsboro.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, son Bernard, brother James Olberding, sister Catherine Brown and son in law Ron Taylor. There is no public services due to the COVID-19 situation  She will be laid to rest in Burns Catholic Cemetery.  Yazel-Megli-Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion is serving the family.  Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Harvest House.  Please sign her online guestbook and leave a memory of Gertrude at www.ymzfh.com.
