Beverly Joan Kornfeld

April 15, 1938 — June 25, 2018

Beverly Joan Miller was born April 15, 1938, the fourth child of Christian and Lora Miller. She had three brothers and one sister. She grew up on the family farm and attended a local country school.

Beverly married Marshall Edmund Kornfeld December 11, 1959 after traveling by air to Wertheim, Germany where Marshall was stationed with the United States Army. She was terrified of flying, and when her mother hugged her goodbye she told her, “You don’t have to do this you know.”  But do it Beverly did. The newlyweds started out in Germany, where they lived in small, one-room apartments for 2 years.

After returning stateside to Georgia, they welcomed their only child, Roger Edmund, in 1961. After Marshall’s discharge from the Army they moved to Bedford, TX where they built their first home.  Beverly worked part time and was involved in teaching Sunday School.

After moving to Oklahoma City, OK in 1975, Beverly worked at AT&T/Lucent for 20 years and retired in May 1999. On her last day of work, their recently constructed home was hit by a F5 tornado. Marshall survived in the coat closet while Beverly had found refuge on the way home. After several anxious hours, they were reunited. They rebuilt in Edmond, OK where she enjoyed volunteering at the Hope Center, cross-stitching and reading. She also helped with the construction of her son's house in Kansas, traveling up in their camper with a "Will Work for Food" sign.

Beverly left a strong Christian legacy and was a much loved grandmother to her eight grandchildren. She taught us about trusting the Lord and the power of forgiveness through stories she told about her life. The grandchildren have many fond memories of camping, boating, canoeing, and snow skiing vacations. They were impressed and inspired by her athletic abilities, still snow skiing and slalom water skiing at the age of 69! She could always make us laugh with her jokes and witty comebacks and was famous for her big breakfasts, Thanksgiving ham, and Maxine's Dilemma (layered pudding dessert).

Beverly was welcomed home by her heavenly Father on June 25th, 2018 at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by her father Christian Miller, mother Lora Miller, and brother Glen Miller. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Marshall of Edmond, OK, son Roger Kornfeld and his wife Tami of Whitewater, KS, Jana Busenitz and husband Ben of Newton, KS, Daniel Kornfeld and wife Kayla of Whitewater, KS, Jared Kornfeld and wife Hope of Benton, KS, Kaleigh Kornfeld and fiancé Dalton Bevan of Augusta, KS, Kristen, Matthew, Meleah, and Ethan Kornfeld, all of Whitewater, KS, great-grandchildren Josiah, Layla and Noah Busenitz, sister Mickey and husband Roy Weathers of Guthrie, brother Bob Miller of Okarche, brother Darrel and wife Suzanne Miller of Guthrie, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
