Bonnie W. Sill

November 11, 1925 — November 6, 2017

HERINGTON - Bonnie W. Sill, departed this life Monday, November 6th, 2017, at the Legacy of Herington.  She was born on November 11, 1925, at Dunlap, KS, the daughter of Charlie F. and Mary (Vickers) Combs.

Memorial services will be 4:00 pm, Saturday, November 11th, 2017, at the United Methodist Church of Burdick with Rev. Sue Talbot, officiating. 

She graduated from Dunlap High School with the class of 1943.  She attended Emporia State for a summer session and received an emergency teaching certificate.  She taught 1st and 2nd  grade at Fox Creek School in Chase County, Kahola Valley rural Dunlap, and Fairview School rural Council Grove.  She moved to the Burdick area in 1947 and worked outside the home at Burdick telephone office, the Lutheran Home, Paragon, and retired from working for Kitchenmaster of Lost Springs in the mid nineties. She attended the Burdick United Methodist Church, was a fifty year member of American Legion Auxiliary #147 of Burdick, a life time member of Morris County Historical Society in Council Grove, and a past president of the Herington Senior Center Board. 

She married Raleigh M. Sill October 17, 1947, at Newton, and he preceded her in death on December 12, 1994.  She is also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and five sisters of which one brother and sister died in infancy. 

She is survived by her daughter Beverly (Rod) Knopp of Woodbine; a son John (Lisa) Sill of Hope; grandchildren, Ron (Michelle) Spaulding, Heather (Brian) Sill-Sheppard,Haley Sill; great grandchildren, Alexus (Austin) Little, Kaitlyn Spaulding, Ty, Morgan, Cadence, and Memphis Sill-Sheppard; great great grandchild, Payton Little; 2 step grandchildren; and 5 step great grandchildren. 

The family requests memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Hospice of Dickinson County, or Burdick United Methodist Church; and they may be sent in care of the Zeiner Funeral Home, Herington.
