Deloris Lorene Siegrist

HERINGTON - Deloris Lorene Siegrist was born December 30, 1937, at Council Grove and departed this life on Sunday, November 5, 2017, at her home in Herington at the age of 79.  She was the daughter of Lester Jackson and Ruby Lorene (Wingo) May.

The family will receive friends Friday evening, 6:00PM – 8:00PM, November 10, 2017, (Deloris will lie in state) at the Zeiner Funeral Home-Herington.

Deloris worked twenty-seven years at Catlin’s IGA and Barnes Food Center of Herington.She enjoyed her worked and was very helpful and accommodating to the customers, and  she was always pleasant.  She was an active member of the First Christian Church , CWF, Courtesy card chairperson, served as an elder, and taught Sunday School for many years.  She was also a member of the Herington Hospital Auxiliary, and was a Camp Fire Girl Leader.  She graduated from Council Grove High School with the class of 1955.

She is preceded in death by a sister Donna Banka, one brother Larry May in 2007, and her parents.

She married Marlin “Pete” Siegrist on July 3, 1956, at Emporia, and he survives of the home in Herington.  She is also survived by her three children, Marla and Brian Sheppard of Ramona, Vicki and Dean Kinzie of Mackville, KS, Jeffrey and Jana Siegrist of Herington; a sister Wilda Worrell of Overland Park; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 11th, 2017, at 10:00am at the First Christian Church - Herington, with Rev. Sherman Sack, officiating.  Musician for the service will be Donna Barta with special music.   A private family inurnment will be at a later date.

The family requests memorials to the First Christian Church of Herington; and may be sent in care of the Zeiner Funeral Home-Herington Chapel,  404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS 67449-3038.

Deloris will be missed. She always had a smile and pleasant greeting for everyone she interacted with. She is one of many who made Herington a great little town to live in.
