Frances Marie Ferrell

HERINGTON - Frances Marie Ferrell, formerly of Herington, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the Presbyterian Manor of Salina.  She was born on June 18, 1930, in Savoy, Texas, the daughter of Arthur C. and Flora R. (Worley) Hicks. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, December 23rd, 2017, at the First Baptist  Church of Herington, with Rev. Darrell Geist, officiating.  Casketbearers for the service will be Dana Lehner, Andy Wilke, James Wilke, Ed Egli, Aaron VanRaalte, and Scott Chasm.  Burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery.  Family will receive friends Friday evening, December 22nd, 2017, at the Zeiner Funeral Home-Herington, from 5:00 – 6:00pm, followed by a public viewing from 6:00 – 7:00pm.

She graduated from Crescent High School, of Oklahoma, with the class of 1948.  She was a nurse’s aid at the Herington Municipal Hospital and went to work later on for the Dickinson County Task Force retiring at the age of 70. She was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church.  She was a devoted wife and mother.

She married Vernon Ferrell on November 30, 1947, at Crescent, Oklahoma; he preceded her in death on February 24, 2011.  She is also preceded in death by a son Harold G. Ferrell in 1999; a sister, Norma Jean Hicks; a great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Wilke;and her parents.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Alvarez and husband Nick of Salina, Linda Wilke and husband Gary of Port Charlotte, FL; two sisters, Ann Louise Coppock and Juanita Smith of Oklahoma City, OK; six grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the First Baptist Church; and they may be sent in care of the Zeiner Funeral Home, Herington.
