Irma Lee Meisinger

November 4, 1941 — October 24, 2020

Irma was born, the youngest of three children, on November 4, 1941 to Albert and Ethel (Hodgson) Janzen, on the family farm eight miles north of Canada, KS.  She attended Victory Grade School first through eighth grade and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1959.  Irma was united in marriage to Robert Meisinger of Marion on July 5, 1959.  The family lived in several different states including Kansas, Oregon, Idaho, Washington, Oklahoma and returned to Marion in 2000.  Irma was a stay-at-home mom most of her married life beginning her career as an assistant church secretary at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Beaverton, OR from 1990 to 1991 before moving to Tulsa, OK where she worked at Trinity Lutheran Church in Broken Arrow from 1992 to 2000 when she retired to Marion.  She was active in church everywhere they lived, serving in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, as a Sunday School teacher, Mid-Week School and VBS teacher and especially enjoyed playing in the Hand Bell Choir.  She served as bulletin and newsletter secretary at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marion.  Her greatest joy was her family which includes her husband of 61 years Robert Meisinger of Marion, daughter Cheryl (Dan) Erickson of Columbia City, OR, son David Meisinger of Newton, KS, sister Dorothy (Janzen) Ensz of Hillsboro, KS, brother Leonard (Jo Ann) Janzen of Fort Worth, TX and many nieces and nephews.  Irma passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Newton Medical Center.  She is preceded in death by her parents.  Irma's family will gather with friends on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion for her memorial service led by Pastor John Werner.  She will be laid to rest in Marion Cemetery.  Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Marion is serving the family.  Memorial contributions in Irma's name may be directed to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion.  Please sign her online guestbook and leave a memory of Irma at www.ymzfh.com.
