James J. Spexarth

James J. Spexarth, 88, of Marion passed January 8, 2018 at Midland Hospice in Topeka.  James was born February 17, 1929 in Colwich, Kansas to Ben J. and Katie (Doffing) Spexarth.  He was one of 10 children- 7 boys and 3 girls.

 James entered the seminary at the age of 12 at St. Meinrad Archabbey, Indiana.  He then went to Catholic University in Washington, D.C. and obtained his Canna Law degree.  He was ordained on May 3, 1955 at Sacred Heart Church in Colwich, Kansas by Bishop Carroll.    He served as parish priest at the following churches; Saint Gabriel in Mulberry, KS; St. Joseph Catholic Church in Arma, KS; St. Leo Catholic Church in St. Leo, KS; St. Patrick Catholic Church in Florence, KS and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Burns, KS.  James retired in 1990.

James is survived by brothers Ralph, Leo and Paul Spexarth all of Colwich and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
