HERINGTON - Obituary – Lucille M. Brockmeier

Lucille was born August 25, 1923, in Lincolnville, Kansas.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  She attended local Herington vicinity schools.  She moved to Wichita when she married Ed Brockmeier in December 1947.  She retired from Cessna Aircraft after twenty-four years of service.  She and her husband retired to Shell Knob, Missouri, on Table Rock Lake residing in their lake home for ten years.  In 1987 they returned to Herington living there until 2002 at which time they moved back into their home in Wichita.

Lucille was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Tabitha Society.  She enjoyed serving the Lord with her volunteer work in the church.  She loved flower gardening and sewing.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Brockmeier, her parents August and Mollie (Brunner) Gehrke; two brothers; and a sister.

Lucille Marie Brockmeier (Gehrke) joined her Lord on April 2, 2018.  She is survived by daughter Linda Lee (Lawrenz) Sloan; granddaughter Tamara Lee (Sloan) Hamby, her husband John Hamby; great grandchildren: Alexander Hamby, his wife Andrea, Blake Hamby, Myles Hamby, Addison Marie Hamby, all of Sahuarita, Arizona; grandson Aaron Sloan, of Fraser, Colorado; step-daughter Barbara Lynne (Brockmeier) Kelley, husband Brian Kelley of Winfield, step-grandson Todd Kelley, wife Jerissa, step-granddaughter Lisa Flaming, husband Ben; and step-great granddaughters Abbigail Kelley, Alivia Kelley, all of Wichita.  She is also survived by one sister, Inez (Gehrke) Frownfelter of Junction City; 2 nephews; their wives, children, and grandchildren. 

The family requests memorials to the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church (Preschool or Tabitha Society) or Hospice of Dickinson County; and they may be sent to;  Zeiner Funeral Home-Herington Chapel,  404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS 67449-3038.
