Max Monroe Pool

Millsap, Texas - TSGT Max Monroe Pool, Ret. went home to his Saviour, Jesus Christ on March 1, 2020 at the age of 83. He was born Dec 7, 1936, in Hope, Kansas. He was the youngest of four children born to Zen Z. and Francis Pool. In 1952, he met the love of his life, Carol and they married four years later.
Max began his Air Force career of 20 years in 1956. He had the distinction of being the Strategic Air Command Commander's Crew Chief on the KC 135 Stratotanker. During his time in service, he would often say tongue-in-cheek that he was a "SAC trained Killer". Not only did he take his job serious, he truly enjoyed it! He flew refueling missions over Vietnam during the war. When he returned home they had the privilege of living all over the USA, as well as Guam.
After his military retirement, Max and his sons started a family business, Woodhaven Custom Wood. He ran this successful business until is retirement in 1997.
He enjoyed the beauty of being outside rather it be hiking, camping or sitting on the porch. Max and Carol were camping park host for many years, which resulted in making many new friends all over the country.
He will be greatly missed by so many people.
Max is preceeded in death by his beautiful wife Carol and sons Dennis and Kenneth.
He is survived by his son Scott Pool ( wife, Debbie), of Millsap, TX; daughter Delynn Fairchild (husband, Michael), of Fairbanks, AK; daughter-in-law Jill Pool of Cresson, TX; grandchildren Kevin Pool, Matthew Pool, Chris Pool, Casey Pool, Zen Pool, all of the Fort Worth, TX area; Tristan Koga of Japan; Micah Fairchild of Fairbanks, AK: Tanna Werner, of Seward, AK, Jordan, Madelyn, Benjamin, Samuel, Nathanael and Sarah Fairchild, of Fairbanks, AK; and great-granchildren Aislinn, Micah, Lilly, Morgan, Hudson Pool and Ezra Fairchild.
A celebration of Max's life will be held in Hope, Kansas at Hope Cemetery on March 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.
