Former Marion resident Ruth Caselman 94, died Saturday, May 6th at New Dawn Memory Care in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born April 30, 1923, to Jim and Mabel (Griffin) Heeler in Beloit. She married William (Bill) Caselman on October 20, 1942.
She was predominately a wife, mother and homemaker throughout her life but she joined her husband in owning and operating a jewelry store in Peabody, sold Beauty Counselor products and baked cinnamon rolls for sale after the family moved to Marion.
She was the Marion City Librarian from 1963 until 1965 when the family moved to Grand Junction, CO.
She was employed at local jewelry stores there and also owned and operated a craft store before she and her husband relocated to Florence, CO for their retirement years. During these years she enjoyed her Senior Citizen exercise group and her vegetable and flower garden. She was a loving wife and mother, devoted friend and always eager to give a helping hand to those in need.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, son David and brother James L. Heeler. Survivors include daughters Cheryl Loomer of Casper, WY, Carol Maggard of Marion and Linda (Jim) Souturas of Colorado Springs, CO; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Memorials have been established for Marion City Library and the Alzheimers Association Colorado.
