Vickie Lynn Kaempfe

November 16, 1947 — September 19, 2020

Vickie Lynn Kaempfe was born in 1947 in Ellsworth, Kansas.  She is the daughter of Jack L. Campbell and Donna F. Ulrich Campbell.  Vickie attended Ellsworth grade school and high school where she graduated in 1965.  She married William (Bill) Dean Kaempfe of Sylvan Grove, Kansas on October 18th, 1965.  Later in life she graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina.  Vickie and Bill made their home(s) in Goodland, Oberlin and Marion, Kansas.  They had three boys, Robby, Darrin and Brent.  Vickie worked as a Police Dispatcher in Goodland, Oil Field Dispatcher in Oberlin, College Recruiter in Salina and a Highway Construction Engineer for KDOT in Marion.  Vickie always enjoyed her kids athletic and school events.  She never missed a football game, track meet or wrestling tournament.  She always enjoyed cooking for her family and going on family trips together to Colorado and Wilson Lake.  She had a very close relationship with her sisters Caroline, Lynette and her brother Jack.  She would spend hours on the phone with them every weekend just catching up on the week’s happenings and what was going on in their lives.  Vickie was the oldest of the siblings and always made sure she did everything she could to take care of them. Vickie and Bill loved Christmas.  They have been collecting Christmas decorations and lights for years.  They have been putting up outside and inside Christmas lights and decorations for years at their home on Marion Lake.  Each year they would get lines of cars coming by to see their lights and decorations and serve hot chocolate and Christmas goodies to the people coming by to view.  Vickie also enjoyed cooking and baking and in her retirement, she volunteered at the Marion Senior Citizen Center preparing meals and delivering Meals on Wheels.  She also volunteered at the Marion Food Bank.  Vickie and Bill were active in the Marion Lutheran Church. Vickie loved her family.  She is survived by: spouse(William Dean Kaempfe), sons Robby Dean Kaempfe and wife Jill(Whitaker). Darrin Wade Kaempfe and wife Robyn(Clarke).  Brent Lee Kaempfe and wife Dee Ann(Steinbring).  She is also survived by siblings Caroline(Johnson), Lynette(Vondra) and Jack Campbell.  Grandkids Remington, Hannah, Taylor, Madison, Mateo, Abigail, Alexandra and Ashlyn, Jack, Ashley, Kristian, Miranda and Vaughn Koch and his wife Brooke.  She has two great grandsons, Westen, Gannon and a third great grandson due November 5th. Vickie and Bill were married for 54 years and on their 50th Anniversary, they took a cruise with family to Belize, Rattan and Cozumel to Celebrate.  She courageously battled cancer for 4 years and left this earth with her family close.  She loved and she was loved. Services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion led by Pastor John Werner.  Yazel-Megli Funeral Home, Marion is serving the family.  Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Marion Senior Center for Meals on Wheels or to Our Savior Lutheran Church.  Please sign her online guestbook and leave a memory of Vickie at www.ymzfh.com.
