Jessie L. Longhofer

HERINGTON - Jessie L. Longhofer, formerly of Herington, died Thursday, November 10th, 2016, in Granbury, Texas.  She was born November 16th, 1938, at Herington, KS.  She was the daughter of Franklin H. and Laura W. (Langhofer) Ayres.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 19th, 2016, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, with Pastor Bill Peterson, officiating.  Burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Granbury, TX,  and an incredible cook who thoroughly enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.  She supported fundraisers with her delicious baked goods.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.  She never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her.  She was known for her quick kind-hearted humor and love for playing cards and having laughs.  Prior to moving to Texas, she had worked at Boelling’s Pharmacy and Peter Pan.  She graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1956.

She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene Longhofer;  two sisters  Muriel Ihde and Jean Goodman; a brother Oscar Ayres, and her parents.

She is survived by three sons Troy Johnson of Herington, Todd Johnson and wife Sandy of San Antonio, TX, Tim Johnson of Austin, TX; five grandchildren Brady, Mitchell, Clayton, Lukas, and Chelsea.

The family requests memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Hospice of Dickinson County; and may be sent in care of the Zeiner Funeral Home-Herington Chapel,  404 S. Broadway, Herington, KS 67449-3038.
