Lois G. Held

HALSTEAD – Lois G. Held, age 85, passed away May 29, 2016, at LakePoint of Wichita.  She was born in Wichita, on January 30,  1931.  On February 12, 1951, she was united in marriage to Jimmie Held.  They owned and operated Held’s Gas and Grocery in Halstead, for over 40 years.  They also raised sheep and she rescued over 1000 cats in her lifetime.  She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Held in March, 2010; a son Sammie Held in June, 2015; and 3 step-sisters:  Dixie, Shirley, Eva Joyce.  She is survived by her son Roger Held and his wife Kathy of Wichita; daughters:  Robin Stephens and her husband Chris of Sweetwater, Texas; Sandy Southern and her husband Bill of Peabody; and Martha Chastain of Wichita; a half-brother Barton White of Harrison, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law Nell Endsley of Wichita.  Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until Service Time.  Interment will be in the Green Valley Cemetery, Furley.  A Memorial Fund has been established for Good Shepherd Hospice in care of Lamb Funeral Home, 120 S Main, Whitewater, KS, 67154.  Online  Condolences may be left at:  www.zeinerfuneralhomes.com.
