Hazel Marie Clothier

Florence – Hazel Marie (Russell) Clothier, 97, passed December 20, 2017 at St. Luke Hospital in Marion.  Hazel was born July 5, 1920 in Primrose, Nebraska to Harry N. and Alma (Harpster) Russell.  She was raised in Peabody.  Hazel and Norman Clothier were married in 1939 in Peabody and shortly after they moved to live on their farm in Chase County, KS.  Norman preceded her in death in 2001 and she continued to live on their farm until she moved to Florence in 2013.  Hazel enjoyed most sports, water skiing, roller skating and fishing. 

Hazel is survived by her son Eugene Clothier of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Teresa (Kevin) Hill of Florence; grandchildren Christopher and Ben Clothier; Nellie, Heath and Cassidy Hill and great grandchildren Brynn and Darcy Hill.  Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband Norman; brother Harry Russell and sisters Gladys Mann and Evelyn Engel. 

Funeral services for Hazel will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion, Kansas with visitation on Tuesday, the 26th from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial following service at Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence, KS.  Memorial contributions in Hazel’s name can be made to either Harvey House Museum of Florence or the Florence Fire Department and can be sent in care of the funeral home to P.O.
