Mary Lou Kroupa, 87, of Marion, passed away Wednesday, January 10, in Hillsboro, Kansas.
Mary Lou was born on December 28, 1930 in Newton to Albert and Anna Novak. She had an older brother, Alvin. She graduated from Tampa High School in 1948 and attended Marymount College before taking a job at Fourth National Bank in Wichita.
On October 11, 1952, she married Edmund Kroupa with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage before his death in October, 2012. Their union was blessed with five children, Sharon, Joni, William, Theresa and Marty.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, where she was active in the Altar Society. Mary Lou was very involved with her children’s school activities, music lessons and farm life. She loved to sew and she and Edmund enjoyed playing cards, attending Pilsen polka dances and visiting with their many friends.
Mary Lou is survived by Sharon and Kris Kuhn of Wichita; Joni and Stacy Smith of Overland Park and their children Amy (Rose) and husband, Jason, Abby (Bodenhausen) and husband, Justin, Ashley and Aaron; William and Linda Kroupa of Antelope and sons Clark and Raleigh; Theresa and Mark Jirak of Atchison and their children Zachary and wife, Jenna, Kalynn, Anna, Andrew, Joseph and Katherine; and Marty and Kimbra Kroupa of Antelope and their children, Clint and Kayla; and great grandchildren, Easton, Ellie and Mia Bodenhausen, and Juliana and Dominic Jirak. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and brother.
