Betty Beneke

LINCOLNVILLE – Betty Beneke, age 83, passed away October 7, 2016, at Dignity Care Home, Salina, Kansas.  She was born May 25, 1933, southeast of Lincolnville, Kansas.  She was the daughter of Karl and Katherine (Beisel) Frobenius.  She was confirmed and baptized in May of 1947, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lincolnville, by Rev. Wagner.  She attended East Creek School for 1st and 2nd grades, and then went to Lincolnville Schools, where she graduated in 1951.  She was united in marriage to Eldon Beneke on December 8, 1951, at St. John’s.  She was employed at the Albert Riffel Grocery Store for several years.  She then worked for the Lincolnville Co-op Association for four years and then moved from the old field mill office into the new office when the first part of the concrete elevator was built in 1956.  She then took some time off to have a family.  When she returned to the work force, she was employed by the Lincolnville Oil Company for a couple of years before returning full-time at the co-op.  At her retirement in 1993, she had given them 27 years of service in total. She was preceded in death by her husband Eldon, a son Leo Eldon, her parents, and siblings:  Dean, Marion, and Ruth.  She is survived by her sons:  Doug and his wife Linda of Salina; and Larry of Salina;  4 grandchildren:  Brett of Kansas City, Missouri; Victoria of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; Bryant of Olathe; and Brittany of Lawrence; and a sister Lulu Swenson of Lindsborg.  Visitation with family will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.  The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 13, 2016, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lincolnville.  Interment will follow in the Lincolnville Cemetery.  Memorial Funds have been established for St. John’s Lutheran Church or to the Lutheran Hour in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm, Marion, KS, 66861.  Online Condolences may be left at www.zeinerfuneralhomes.com.
